Game Viewing & Activities


Game viewing Wildlife to be seen includes

elephant, lion, wild dog, buffalo and a wide

variety of antelope in addition to endemic species

such as the Thornicroft’s giraffe and Cooksons

wildebeest. This is an excellent area for leopard.


Game Drives Full range of game drives in the

South Luangwa National Park using open 4 x 4

vehicles. Each vehicle is driven by a qualified,

knowledgeable guide.

 

Night drives using spotlights allow guests to

view nocturnal animals such as leopard, bush

babies and spotted hyena. On night game drives,

guests are to return to camp by 20h00.

Walking Safaris Game walks conducted by a

professional guide and an armed national

parks scout.

 

Climate & Clothing Suggestions


The “wet” season is normally December to

March, and has variable weather. In one day,

you can have bright sunshine and heavy

downpours. The rain does not usually last

long.

 

The “dry” season is from May to November

and is the easiest time to travel. June to

August are the coolest months, with cold

mornings & evenings. October is the hottest

month in Zambia, so be prepared for

temperatures of over 40 degrees celcius if you

travel then.

Clothing should be cool and comfortable.

Jerseys and heavier jackets are required for

winter mornings and evenings. Muted colours

are the most suitable on safari. We advise

long sleeves and long trousers for mornings

and evenings due to mosquitoes. Sturdy and

comfortable shoes are essential.


A fully complimentary laundry service is

offered daily.

 

Getting There

By air: Mfuwe Airport - transfer time from the

airport to the lodge is approximately 2 hours in 4

X 4 vehicles (45 minute road transfer, 1 hour 15

minutes gravel road transfer with game viewing

possibilities).


Please note the luggage restriction is 15kgs

per person in a soft-sided bag.

 

Health


Malaria is a serious concern in Zambia. Please

consult your doctor for the best prophylaxis.

Bottled mineral water is supplied by the lodge.

 

Children


Children 9 years and older accepted.

 

Credit Cards


All extras can be paid for with Visa, American

Express and Master Card credit cards in addition

to travellers cheques and cash (US$ and Kwacha

only). Diners Card is not accepted.

In order to savour the wonderful floodplain vistas offered by the site, 10 air conditioned, elegant Victorian style suites are built along the edge of the hillside, each giving guests a private panoramic view.
